Sarah McKimmy

Community Association Manager

As a Michigan native with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from Ferris State University, I began my career at Hyatt’s flagship property through their prestigious Corporate Management Trainee Program. My rapid ascent to the role of Food and Beverage Manager in a high-paced environment honed my multitasking skills early on. This experience fueled my desire to work in a resort setting, leading me to the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe in 2009 as Director of Food and Beverage Outlets. After several fulfilling years in Incline Village—where I married and started a family—I transitioned to Community Association Management.

In my extensive career managing common interest communities ranging from four to 248 units, I have developed a proven track record of effective and efficient board collaboration while upholding professionalism in all homeowner communications. My role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including overseeing snow removal, grounds maintenance, enforcement actions, monthly financial reviews, budget drafting, vendor management, proposal creation, contractor communications, and drafting membership correspondence. On a larger scale, I work closely with the Association’s Reserve Study Specialist to develop accurate reserve studies and manage significant reserve projects such as asphalt maintenance, retaining walls, staircase replacements, lighting upgrades, Defensible Space, and utility line replacements.

I understand the importance of supporting the board of directors while proactively making informed decisions when needed. Recognizing that board members are volunteers who take their responsibilities seriously, I strive to maintain open communication and collaboration. I expect timely responses to emails, active participation in management tasks, approval of vendor invoices, thorough review of board packets, and reliance on expert advice when appropriate. My experience has shown that these practices are essential for successful management and maintaining a first-class property.

My passion for delivering exceptional customer service remains at the core of my professional ethos. As many in the industry step away, I remain dedicated to advancing my expertise through continuing education. Furthermore, I earned an accreditation as a Certified Manager of Community Associations from the Community Association Managers International Certification Board. This accreditation has further distinguished me in the Community Management field.

My ability to multitask, follow through on specific tasks, and communicate effectively, combined with my years of experience in managing common interest communities, will prove advantageous to any Board of Directors.
